Colander - large

70.00

A large shallow colander. As well as potting, I love gardening and cooking and grow a lot of my own veg. I use this pot for collecting tomatoes, salads or berries from the garden before rinsing under the tap and leaving to drain. Its shallow form makes it particularly good for soft fruit which can be spread out to fill the dish, the holes also help keep the fruit fresh. Alternatively this could  be used to strain any cooked food.

This pot is thrown and turned on the wheel, the feet and handles are hand modeled and joined. I slipped the pot with celadon green before cutting the holes. I have to really take my time with this part of the process, carefully making out the position of the holes by eye before cutting. I have to get this correct first time, no second attempts with this bit! I do not stamp decorate my colanders as I love the pattern created by the holes.

Glazed with a celadon green inside. The outside is glazed with just the salt and ash. and ranges form a rich, golden toasty colour to a pale colour on the rim where it has received more salt. Fired the wood-fired slat glaze kiln.  I make this shape in three sizes, this is the largest of the three.

Please note as with all my wood-fired salt glazed pots, this sale is for the exact pieces described and featured in the photos.

size: 240mm wide x 60mm high
