wood fired saltglaze pendant necklace.

In 2011 I travelled around south India, visiting wood-firing potters along my way. In a night market in Mumbai I bought a beautifully carved wooden stamp which I have used to make this pendant. The design is of a mango - which was fitting as I was there at the start of monsoon season when a vast variety of delicious mangos were ripe.

Glazed celadon green with speckles of wood ash and fired in the wood-fired slat glaze kiln. Hung on a twisted pale green, (with subtle sparkle) wool necklace, (also made by myself) which measures approximately 500mm circumference/ 250mm length. The necklace can be simply tied at the desired length to fit with different outfits and necklines.

The exact two necklaces photographed are for sale, please select dark celadon or pale celadon at checkout to make your request. I thought it would be helpful to have them photographed together to show the beautiful and subtle variations present in the glaze.
